Anne Marie (Galik) Tlumacki passed away on December 7th at Kindred Healthcare in Stoughton at the age of 92. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Pearl Galik of Salem, and the beloved wife of the late John S. Tlumacki for 54 years. She was the loving mother to her son John C. Tlumacki from Pembroke and his wife Debee, and daughter Janice Urbanski of Beverly and her husband Steve, and grandmother to their daughter Nichole. She leaves her dear friend Angela Silva of Beverly. Anne was a former resident of Beverly, and was affectionately known as Honey to her family and friends. She grew up in Salem where she graduated from Salem Classical High School. In her senior year, she had major back surgery to try to correct the scoliosis that affected her back. She spent that year in bed in a half-body cast. She overcame that obstacle and landed her first job with the Sylvania Lighting Company as an assembler. Attending Polish polka dances was her favorite activity and is where she met her husband John. Together they assembled a huge polka record collection where they would often bring them over to friends and families homes to dance to. She worked at Hobby Caterers in Beverly for many years where she was an expert in everything from birds and fish, to stamps collecting and model trains. Her real passion was growing flowers, which adorned her Cabot Street home to the point where she became known as the “geranium lady”. It was a usual scene to see close to a hundred geranium plants lined up in the numerous windows of the front porch. She was an avid newshound and could not be interrupted during the six o’clock news; ever. Anne was a devout parishioner at St. John’s the Evangelist Church in Beverly. She moved to a long-term care facility in 2001 in Braintree after suffering a major stroke that was augmented by her scoliosis. She was later transferred to Kindred Healthcare in Stoughton in 2007. Though there were ups and downs, she was able to maintain a quality of life through the loving care she received from the dedicated nurses who took her under their wings.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church, 111 New Balch St., Beverly, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell – Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
