Stephen David Smith died unexpectedly at the age of 55. Stephen was born in Gloucester on January 21, 1962, and graduated from Gloucester High School in 1980. He was an active member of the Gloucester Marching Band and enjoyed the many band trips. Stephen attended Salem State College and worked many years at State Street Bank in Boston. Stephen was a kind, caring, generous person who loved spending time with friends and family. Though he spent many years living in Boston, his heart always belonged to the beauty of Gloucester, where he lived the last 10 years of his life. He loved to walk around the city and could be found daily on Main Street with his beloved pug, Bogey. Stephen had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. He was an avid photographer and always took pictures wherever he went. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. Stephen is survived by his parents, David and Helen Smith; his siblings, Richard Smith and wife, Lisa of Danvers, Debra Pratt, Cynthia Ciarametaro and husband, Joe, Robert Smith and wife, Marianne, all of Gloucester. He was beloved by his nieces and nephews, Michael, David, Kailey, and Erica Pratt, Thomas, Rachel, and Melissa Parisi; Gerald, Nicole, and Kevin Smith; Zachary, Aaron, and Isaiah Smith, Isabella and Leo Parisi, Ayra Pratt. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Joe and Doris Smith and Richard and Ruth Hubbard. Stephen’s graveside services will be held at Wesleyan Cemetery, 11 Wesley St., Gloucester, Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
