Elliot Rogers Reiner, M.D. 4/10/2013 Worcester, MA

Elliot Rogers Reiner, MD (“Tim”), 93, died on April 10, after a long illness, in his home in Worcester. He was born in Portsmouth New Hampshire in 1919, and moved to Lancaster Massachusetts shortly thereafter, where he grew up. He was educated at Clark University, University of Alabama, and Yale Medical School. He was in the Navy Marine Corp during World War II and served in hospitals in Washington DC and Portsmouth Va. He returned to Worcester in 1948 to complete his training in psychiatry at Worcester State Hospital. During his years in Worcester, Dr. Reiner was Director or Research at Worcester State Hospital and had a private practice in psychiatry. He worked with the Pastoral Counseling Center and at the Child Guidance Center, and was on the staff at Memorial Hospital. He was very interested in conservation and left a large tract of woodland in Andover NY in a conservation trust with the Society for Protection of New Hampshire Forests. He leaves his children Margaret Reiner Morris of Chapel Hill, NC, Eric Alan Reiner and his wife Virginia of White Bear Lake, MN, and Carl W. Reiner and his wife Lori of Westerly, RI; his grandchildren Julia Catherine Morris Piasecki and her husband Kevin of Seattle, WA, Neal Carl Morris and his wife Catherine of Chapel Hill, NC, Rachel Maves and her husband Steve of Minneapolis, MN, Joshua Reiner and his wife Jennifer of Edina, MN, and Aaron Rogers Reiner and his wife Danielle of Chicago, IL; and ten great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine Haworth Cook Reiner and son Timothy Carter Reiner. There will be a memorial service for him at 11 am on May 4 in Lancaster, MA, at the First Church of Christ, Unitarian. All who knew him are welcome.

WORCESTER – Mrs. Rose(Lucivero) Belsito, 84, passed away Friday April 26th at St Vincent’s Medical Center. Rose is survived by two daughters, Kathy Belsito and her fiancé Bart Lasky of Worcester, Karen Cangello and her husband Peter of Worcester, a son, John Belsito and his wife Marybeth of New York City, six grandchildren, George Belsito and his wife Meg, Nicholas and Gianna Cangello, Matthew , Katherine and Elizabeth Belsito, two great grandchildren, Molly and Thomas Belsito, a brother in law, Albert Belsito and his wife Theresa, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Louis Belsito, her brothers, Vilando, Cypriano and Bruno Lucivero and her sisters, Louise Mangini, Clara Cerqua and Lecretia Flaminio. Rose was born on September 5th 1928 in Worcester, Ma., a daughter of Giacomo and Carmella (Confolone) Lucivero. She was a loving wife of 63 years to her husband Louis Belsito, who passed away on February 28th 2013. An old school mom who cherished her family above all else, Rose enjoyed cooking wonderful Italian family meals and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a health and nutrition enthusiast, participating in a wide range of activities including aerobics and yoga long before they became mainstream. A person of great faith, Rose was a parishioner for many years at St. Margaret Mary’s and later at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church. Her funeral will be held Wednesday, May 1st at FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch St. Worcester, Ma. There will be a Funeral Mass at 11 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church of Worcester. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 9 am to 10:30 am. Richard W. “Dick” Cote, 67, of Worcester died Monday, April 29th in St. Vincent Hospital after a long illness. He leaves three daughters, Cheryl Reynolds of Worcester, Michelle Chase of Webster and Debra Cote and her partner, Billie Rama of Hoboken, NJ; a sister, Diane Cote of East Douglas; two grandchildren, Zachary Chase and Amanda Reynolds; several nieces and nephews and his former wife, Dolly Merchant. He was born in Worcester, the son of William R. and Beatrice M. (Jalbert) Cote and graduated from South High School in 1963. Dick was a machinist for several years at the Norton Company. He was the director for the Worcester Modified Softball League for many years. Dick enjoyed his trips every spring and fall to the camp in Maine with his lifelong friends. He loved the game of baseball and had a great sense of humor. He loved antiques and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Dick had a great respect for the military and veterans. He also volunteered for the Easter Seals. Mr. Cote faced his illness with bravery until the very end. WORCESTER – Mr. John J. Adamonis, 79, passed away Monday April 22nd, at his home surrounded by his loving family. John is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years Marie (Belculfine) Adamonis of Worcester, two sons, John Adamonis III and his wife Debi of Worcester, Joseph Adamonis and wife Nancy of Spencer; a daughter, Susan Rousseau and her husband Randy of Leicester; a sister, Anna Polenski and her husband Theodore of Auburn, two grandchildren, Nicholas and Ashley Adamonis; and his beloved cat, Shyann; also many nieces and nephews. John was pre-deceased by his brother, William Adamonis and a sister, Priscilla Mitchell. A lifelong resident of Worcester, John was educated through the Worcester schools. He served his country in the Army as a paratrooper during the Korean Conflict. He worked for over forty years driving truck for Chicago Dressed Beef and Cowan’s and Sons of Worcester. John had worked most recently at UMass Medical Center up until his retirement. John was a parishioner of St Stephen’s Church, and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, April 30th at St Stephen’s Church, 16 Hamilton St. Worcester, Ma. 01604 from 9:30am to 10:00am. Worcester – Demetre J. Steffon, 91, of Worcester, died on Friday, April 26th in Saint Vincent Hospital. Mr. Steffon was married to Claire (Finnegan) Steffon, who died in 2002. He is survived by a sister, Violet Dyer of NH and many nephews and nieces. Demetre was born in Worcester, son of the late John Demetre Steffon and Kostindina (George) Steffon. He is also predeceased by three siblings; Bessie Matto, Angelo Adams and Elizabeth Ropi. Mr. Steffon is a graduate of Commerce High School and served in the United States Army. Demetre worked for the Veterans Administration for 36 years retiring in 1980. He volunteered for many organizations including The Albanian Hour at WCUW Radio for 30 years. He received the first Medal of Distinction given by Albanian President Alfred Moisiu for his service in assisting Albanian immigrants settling in the area and for his time with WCUW Radio. He used his radio show as an opportunity to keep the local Albanian community connected to their heritage. He also was a recipient of a Key to City of Worcester from then Mayor Tim Murray. He belonged to the Worcester County Light Opera Company, the Boston Opera Company, the Huntington Theatre Company, the former Albanian Worcester Mens Chorus under the direction of Van Christo, The Sons of Saint Mary and volunteered his time with the New England Albanian Relief Organization and also as a translator at local hospitals for people needing assistance with the Albanian language. The funeral will be held Tuesday, April 30th from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. with a service at 11 AM in Saint Mary’s Assumption Albanian Orthodox Church 535 Salisbury Street. He was born in Hrisohorafa, Greece the son of Christos and Theodora (Tasoudis) Enetzelis. Mr. Enetzelis had been employed by the Norton Company and its successor St. Gobain for 25 years before retiring in 2002. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and the Cultural Center Hrisohorafiton, Alexander the Great. Michael was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle who enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren; and also enjoyed gardening. Eleftheria (Diamantis) Mazanitis, 92, of Worcester, died Thursday, April 25th. Her husband of 56 years, Dr. Spyridon Mazanitis died in 2001. She leaves two sons, Dr. Nicholas Mazanitis and his wife Sandra of Worcester and Dr. William Mazanitis and his wife Christine of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Atty. Nicole Mazanitis-Gorski and her husband Alexander of New York City, Christina Drogkaris and her husband Vasili, Sophia Mazanitis, all of Boston, and Alexander Mazanitis of Worcester; and a brother, Manthos Diamantis of Greece. She was born in Epirus, Greece, the daughter of Eleni and Christos Diamantis. At the age of sixteen, she moved with her family to Bucharest, Romania where her father was a merchant. She married in 1945. After the Red Army took over Eastern Europe and installed communist puppet governments, life became impossible. That is why the family was forced to move to Greece and then immigrate to the United States as political refugees in 1962. Eleftheria’s funeral will be held Friday, April 26th with a service at 10:00 A.M. in St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 34 Gold Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Eugene O. Boakye, 63, of Worcester died, Thursday, April 18th at Oakdale Rehabilitation center. He leaves his wife of 32 years, Bonnie Sue (Lucas) Boakye; a son, Nicol Ekow Boakye of Worcester; two daughters, Tameria Boakye and Worcester and Eugenia Esi (Boakye) Pirogor and her husband, Nikita of Brighton; two grandchildren, Sarah and Issac Boateng of Worcester and several brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by a son, Nana Yaw Boakye who died in March of 1980. He was born in Sekondi, Ghana, the son of Joseph Yaw and Emelia (Esi Quashie) Boakye and was the grandson of the late Nana Sir Ofori-Atta I. Eugene was educated in Ghana. Upon migrated to the United States, he was employed at Neles-Jamesbury for 20 years as a computer machinist operator, Foreign Auto and AA Transportation where he was a driver for 8 years, retiring in 2011. Mr. Boakye was a Jehovah’s Witness, he was a member at the Franklin Street Kingdom Hall. He loved sports and was an avid tennis player, he also enjoyed field hockey and pole vaulting. Music was one of his passions; he enjoyed playing the organ and signing. Eugene also had a gift for making people laugh; this is what we would all miss along with his interest in current affairs, politics and sports. Eugene’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to his family and friends for their kindness and support, especially, Dr. Rita Semaan, Dr. Bogdan Nedelescu, Dr. Bradley Switzer, Dr. Venu Bathini and Nurse Practitioner, Mary Sullivan, the doctors, nurses and aides at UMass-Memorial Hospital, the staff of Critical Care System, especially Barbara, the entire staff at Oakdale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, the entire staff at The Meadows of Leicester and VNA Hospice for their compassion and care during Eugene’s illness. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4th at 11:00 AM in Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 659 Franklin Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
